Approximately one half of the population in the Democratic Republic of the Congo live in poverty, and two thirds live in rural areas. The majority of people depend on agricultural crops and farming for a way life. Farmers are currently worried about the future of farming and technology due to drastic climate change. Some farmers are opting to a new style of farming: short-style crops, which is a three-month harvest rather than five.
